In the late 1980s, Copeland?/FONT> commercialized scroll compressor technology, which completely revolutionized the air conditioning and refrigeration industry. Scroll technology replaced conventional piston compressor technology as the industry standard. It was a significantly more energy efficient, more reliable and quieter compressor. Copeland has continued to evolve this technology to encompass larger sizes (up to 25 horsepower) and most recently introduced Copeland Scroll with Digital Technology. With this new technology, the scroll output capacity adapts to match the variable demand conditions of the environment and delivers highly efficient, cost-cutting climate control for industrial and commercial applications.
Underlying every climate control application is Emerson's superior motor technology. In fact, Emerson is a leading producer of both air moving motors for residential and industrial applications, and hermetic motors for refrigeration and air conditioning compressors.
