Emerson's
presence in South Asia has grown quickly during the
last decade to cover the entire ASEAN region, as well
as Australia.
The company has a fast-growing network of more than 45
business relationships, including sales and service offices,
and is rapidly expanding its manufacturing presence, particularly
for customers in the process control industry; the heating,
ventilating and air conditioning industry; computer-related
equipment; semiconductor fabrication; and industrial-electrical
sectors. The company's most recent investment in the ASEAN
region was a Fisher-Rosemount factory at Nilai in Malaysia
to serve process control customers.
Global leaders such as Emerson's Branson Ultrasonics,
Fisher-Rosemount, Copeland, Astec and Control Techniques
divisions have factories in one or more ASEAN countries.
In addition, Emerson is introducing the region's customers
to new technologies, particularly value-added service
offerings such as the Reliability Based Maintenance servicing
concept of Computational Systems, Inc. (CSI) and the enhanced
motor servicing capabilities of Control Techniques Drive
Centres. In addition, Liebert Corporation, with more than
a million installations around the globe, has earned its
reputation as the world leader in computing and telecommunications
protection systems. Since building the first precision
air conditioner in 1965, Liebert has developed a comprehensive
range of protection systems for sensitive electronics.
Emerson is encouraging more of its divisions to invest
in South Asia and actively seeking strong local partners
with complementary skills in its key investment sectors.
These include forging strong relationships with local
sub-contractors, maintaining a strong emphasis on hiring
and developing local staff, and locating research and
development facilities in more than one nation in the
Asia-Pacific region to facilitate market-by-market customization.
