Technology and Engineering - Emerson Technology Council
The Emerson Technology Council consists of representatives around the globe from each of Emerson's Brands. This multi-brand representation ensures the Technology Council takes a broad corporate view in addressing technology issues of strategic importance.
One of the key Council initiatives is fostering business growth through product and technology planning. This planning process focuses on identifying and implementing programs to optimize all areas of operations. Council Corporate Initiatives Technology
Council planning has already resulted in several major corporate
initiatives, including:
Implementation
of a consistent format for assessing technology for all
divisions. By following this process, commonalities become
evident, allowing divisions to share resources and solutions.
This three-step process requires:
Identification of a five-year product plan and technology
inventory to support revenue growth
Assessment of technology gaps, capabilities and sourcing
strategies
Evaluation of future technologies and their impact on
sales
Development
of a library of network protocols that can be shared among
divisions, leading to greater interoperability of devices
that are developed from the same platform. This resulted
in the establishment of the Emerson
Networking Communications Center.
Identify
candidate's technological advances for the Annual Emerson
Technology Award. The winner is chosen based on combining
technology and engineering to exceed customer expectations
and deliver value.
Additionally,
the Technology Council conducts surveys to identify the technology
issues and challenges on which it should focus and reviews
best practices that will address those issues and challenges.
